The World Cup presents a significant opportunity to activate outdoor spaces across the Star Pubs & Bars estate.
While LED Fan Zones support flagship, high-footfall locations, many core estate sites require a structured, lower-infrastructure outdoor viewing solution.
The MatchPod has been developed to meet this need, providing a premium, engineered, repeatable outdoor activation format designed specifically for pub garden and terrace environments.
Built by the same team delivering the LED Fan Zone programme, the MatchPod applies Pixelhut's proven outdoor activation methodology to a scalable, estate-wide format.
Our Approach
Delivering national tournament impact demands a structured, tiered estate activation strategy balancing reach, consistency, and operational efficiency.
This framework enables consistent brand presence across the estate while maintaining operational control.
The MatchPod is a purpose-built, 2.2m-wide engineered outdoor viewing unit designed for structured estate deployment.
A self-contained viewing structure purpose-built for pub gardens and terrace environments.
Internalised cabling, rear service access and simplified maintenance architecture.
Sealed water ballast system providing low-centre-of-gravity stability without permanent fixings.
Designed for scalable rollout and consistent activation across multiple estate locations.
Engineering
Engineered Presence With Controlled Footprint.
The MatchPod balances strong visual impact with estate-friendly proportions and repeatable deployment design.
Designed to deliver statement impact without permanent infrastructure or excessive spatial demand.
Clean Dibond cladding and integrated header architecture ensure consistent Heineken presentation across all sites.
Compact, proportionally balanced design suitable for pub gardens, terraces and mixed-capacity environments.
Specifications vary by tier; final configuration confirmed following site assessment
High-brightness, direct-exposure commercial panel. Optimised for outdoor daylight visibility and extended operation.
Engineered internal frame with Dibond cladding. Recessed UV-stable impact-resistant glazing.
Integrated dual-mono active speaker system. Optimised for outdoor commentary clarity.
Integrated low-centre water ballast system. Designed for garden-safe deployment.
Single-feed connection. Rear intake and top exhaust airflow system. Thermally managed internal environment.
Connectivity
Every MatchPod is built connectivity-ready from the factory. This is not an aftermarket upgrade, it is embedded at design stage, giving Heineken a programmable outdoor media layer across the estate from day one.
Every MatchPod ships with network integration hardware as standard. No retrofit required.
Standard on every unit. No additional hardware cost.
Separate to the MatchPod programme licence. Available as an estate-wide or site-specific add-on.
Full content management and deployment service, operated centrally by Pixelhut.
Ensures brand consistency and campaign control across all activated sites.
Outside of live fixtures, MatchPods can operate as controlled brand display units.
Extending brand presence throughout the active season.
Connected Content delivers measurable returns beyond matchday activation.
Built-In Capability
Operations
Pixelhut manages the full operational lifecycle. The same team, processes, and infrastructure behind the LED Fan Zone programme, applied to a scalable estate-wide deployment.
Fabrication scheduled upon confirmed site allocation. Structured batch production. Defined completion timeline.
Centralised support structure. 24 to 48 hour response protocol. Modular components for rapid swap-out.
Pre-tournament installation window. Rapid single-day deployment per site. Low-disruption garden positioning.
Structured post-tournament de-rig. Secure off-season storage. Maintenance between deployments.
Fleet Intelligence
Every MatchPod is fitted with integrated tracking hardware, feeding live data into the Pixelhut fleet management platform. Full visibility of your estate activation from a single dashboard.
Every pod carries an integrated AirTag tracker. See the real-time location of every unit across the estate, whether deployed, in transit, or in storage.
See which pods are live, which are awaiting installation, and which are in seasonal storage. Filter by region, status, or site. One view across the entire fleet.
Motion alerts and location history for every unit. Know the moment a pod moves and track its full journey from warehouse to site and back.
Real-time deployment status for every site. Track installation progress during rollout windows and monitor active status throughout the season.
Visual programme timeline showing deployment windows, tournament periods, collection schedules, and maintenance windows across the five-year programme.
Full asset history per pod. Installation records, service logs, and location history available for compliance, audit, and programme review.

Rollout
The MatchPod programme follows a phased rollout structure designed to validate performance, manage risk and enable scalable estate expansion within the tournament window.
Estate Impact
A layered activation model maximising reach, consistency, and operational efficiency across the estate.
Activates garden and terrace locations not suited to full LED deployment. One engineered format that works across the entire Star Pubs & Bars estate.
May to September. Every summer. Pods drive extended dwell time and incremental food and beverage revenue through the peak outdoor trading season.
Consistent brand presentation from flagship venues to core estate pubs. Same quality. Same experience. Centrally controlled.
No event infrastructure. No scaffolding. No structural engineering. Single-day install per site with no disruption to trade.
Two tiers. One estate strategy. LED Fan Zones for flagship venues. MatchPods for the core estate. Complete outdoor coverage at every level.
Pricing locked from day one regardless of inflation, demand or market conditions through to 2030. No annual renegotiation. No surprises.
The Programme Model
The MatchPod licence is structured as a five-year estate programme running from 2026 to 2030. It is built around the most significant cycle of sporting events the UK will see this decade.
Three major tournaments. Two World Cups. A home Euros on your doorstep. No other five-year window in recent history comes close to this concentration of national sporting moments.
Each pod is deployed from May through to the end of September, aligned to the UK summer trading season when outdoor spaces generate their highest footfall, longest dwell times and strongest food and drink spend. That gives every site approximately 22 weeks of active outdoor viewing each year.
Tournament years fill the heart of that window with a major international competition. The off-years are not empty, they are a full summer of content that keeps the infrastructure earning.
Heineken’s 30-year UEFA Champions League partnership concludes in August 2027. From that point, Formula 1 and the UEFA Women’s Champions League, both Heineken-sponsored through 2030, become the two premier Heineken-branded sporting properties active in the summer window.
A one-year activation agreement does not allow either party to build anything. Pixelhut cannot invest in estate-grade infrastructure for a single season. Star Pubs and Bars cannot develop habitual sporting footfall from a temporary installation.
The five-year framework changes the equation entirely. Pubs that own the outdoor viewing infrastructure year after year build a reputation. Regulars come back because the space exists and they know it will be activated.
By the time Euro 2028 arrives, a home tournament, on your estate, with your infrastructure already proven over two summers, the commercial return is not a spike. It is a compounding asset.
Star Pubs and Bars commits to a fleet size. Pixelhut manages everything. The pods are yours to activate for every fixture in the summer calendar, across every year of the programme, at a rate that is fixed from day one regardless of what happens to costs, demand or market conditions between now and 2030.
Tournament years carry a full activation licence covering the complete Pixelhut managed service: installation, technical support, content management and full operational cover.
Off-years, 2027 and 2029, carry a reduced annual licence of £3,000 per pod. This is the licence fee for a full summer of commercial activation, not a retainer for a dormant asset.
The Investment in Context
A single pub generating an additional £200 in food and drink spend on a match day more than covers the daily pod cost for the entire week. Across a 22-week season with multiple live fixtures per week, the return compounds rapidly. The question is not whether a MatchPod pays for itself, it is how quickly.
Investment Structure
The MatchPod programme spans 2026 to 2030, covering two FIFA World Cups and a home Euros. Three major tournaments. One fixed licence per pod, per season.
All prices exclude VAT. Payment terms aligned to deployment schedule.
